Where is Larry Brown when you need him? He's probably owned every $5,000 gun in North American, using the same $5,000. Ha!
I've handled a few of the Browning Sidelock guns over the years and have found them to be excellent. One in particular that I looked at in the mid 90s I really regret not buying.

The thing is, when/if Larry owned the Browning Sidelock, it was a $1700 gun. He's really old, you know.I have my doubts any BSS sidelock is a $5000 gun, from where we sit today. Maybe a 20 gauge, with it's case or new in the box, but, I think the 12s are more like $3500 guns. Best, Ted

And I sold it to a Scheel's store for $3,000 and a nice Ithaca SKB 200E 20ga. So around $4,000 to a dealer, and quite some time ago. Given what's happened to Spanish sidelock prices, that should help the Brownings.

Just a little shot at you, Larry-I think I remember the introductory price on the BSS sidelock being around $1700.
From what I hear, the Spanish guns aren't finding a lot of love on the street with the new pricing.
12 doubles seem to be a tough sell these days. Smaller market, I imagine.
Best, Ted

A few of the guns Miroku made for Winchester are 20 gauges that "hit like a 20, and carry like a 12", quite heavy. Which doubles did Miroku make for Winchester?

I think Ted goofed there. Expect he's talking about the Model 23, which came out of Winchester's Olin-Kodensha joint venture. Along with the 101 and the Parker Repro.
Getting back to Miroku-made sxs,in general I like the Miroku Dalys better than the BSS, although most of the Miroku guns are PG/BT and I prefer straight/splinter. There are a few of those around; wish there were more. I picked up a Miroku Model M 12ga years ago. Looked for all the world like a very basic Birmingham boxlock: Straight/splinter/DT. Non-ejector. Plain case colored receiver. Factory choked IC/IM. It was a very good pheasant gun. Let it go in a moment of weakness.

Actually, Larry, you are correct, I should have typed Dalys instead of WInchester. I have handled a porky Miroku/Daly, but, the WInchesters are the guns I remember being really heavy. My bad. There was an M for sale not long ago, it bore a striking resemblence to a W&S 700.

The bottom line is the BSS Sidelocks, which are the focus of this thread, are svelt guns, not clubby like some of the other guns discussed.
Socialism is almost the worst.

Buzz, Some people are going to find them clubby, some won't You are getting into matters of individual fit with that statement.
