I'm not convinced that "many" Spanish guns suffer from poor quality steel, either. A few, here and there, maybe.

But, 12 gauge double guns of any stripe are becoming a bit of a drug on the broader gun market. Further, you would be very surprised at the number of actual English gunmakers and 'smiths that own a BSS sidelock or a different Miroku product, and they are almost universal in praise for the guns. But, at current dealer asking prices, you are solidly into pedigreed English ejector boxlock territory, usually with a case, and some history, and a Japanese gun from the 1980s will be thought of differently by someone who has a notion of doubles, and their history, who is in the market.

I am looking simply because I am pragmatic, and the notion of a high quality copy of the H & H action, with Southgate ejectors, built of quality material, suitable for off-the-shelf ammunition, and not used to death, seems like a good enough reason to consider one.

As I noted, we will see.
