This is great information for me gents.

I have 4 pounds of FFg left over from a Martini-Henry adventure, and another 1 lb keg of F g.

From what i'm learning loading with BP does not seem to be as intensive and formula specific as Nitro loads.

As the info evolves I think I may try to load some #4 ITX Shot for the rare woodland duck I run into. Are there any special concerns needed when using the ITX Lead Replacement instead of true lead?

I already ordered some overshot 1/2" Fiber wads that were un lubed. I do have some beeswax and crisco I will melt and soak them into it for a BP lube.

RMC offers more than just primer convenience over magtech. The internal dimensions alow for plastic wads and there overall durability is supreme.

Right you are old colonel. I have been using RMC hulls in 12 - 28 gauges for over 9 bird seasons and enjoy their versatility and performance. Interesting to me is that my 16 and 28 Ga. guns prefer card and fiber wads and my 12 and 20 Ga. guns are partial to 1-piece plastic wads.
RMC hulls can be loaded with any gauge specific published load for straight walled hulls and that opens up the door for lots of quality reloads. RMC hulls have given me the best pattern that I haver seen. Also, Cowboy Action Shooters have reloaded RMC brass hulls over 3000 times and when the primer pocket will no longer hold a primer, RMC can put in a screw-in insert and the reloader can continue to reloading the same hull. I use RMC hulls for all of my hunting shotgun ammo needs.

Other than prime/deprime stations, a Mec Jr can be used to throw powder, seat wads, and drop shot. I use 46 bushings, some cut to throw more powder. I was loading BP a lot, so hand tools can be used just as good. 27.3grs by volume is one dram, so a 2 1/2 dram load is 68grs, a 3 dram is 82grs. Most shotgunners use a equal amount of shot and powder and the plastic dippers can be bought from BPI for under a 10 spot. Measuring BP isn't as fussy as nitro. I've used from 75grs of 3F, to 94grs of 2F with 1oz of shot. As said, a metal punch can be used to deprime and a wooden dowel to prime and seat wads. By hand, I just put a new primer on a metal surface, center the shell over it with the dowel in it, and hit with a hammer. No, the primer won't go off. Even though Circlefly says to use 11ga wads I liked the 10ga wads for a tighter seal. You'll need the .128 OP card, 1/2" cushion wad, and .028 OS cards. The 1/2" cushion wads allow you to add as many as necessary, or parts of one, to get the shot up somewhere near the top. They can be cut with a finger nail. Stay clear of plastic wads - they make a really big mess. Good luck.

At $7.50 each that's $187.50 just for box of 25 or $750.00 if I wanted to start with 100 cases. I'll stick with the Mag-Tecs, my pockets Ain't that deep. Other than loading small quantities with minimal or homemade tooling there is no real advantage to the all brass hull. If you want to load plastic wads & smokeless powders spend the money on a decent press & use plastic hulls.
Personally I enjoy loading the brass hulls for my old black powder guns so no big deal to use the larger sized card & fiber wads. I can do a big amount of shooting for what a box of 25 of the RMC hulls cost.
