"I sent a message to the seller pointing out the problems with the gun."
Thanks for taking the time to send your comments to this seller, Joe; and I hope he's smart enough to heed your advice.

Crescent No. 66 .410 Faux Smith Sideplate has a bit of an 'Ed-ish' torch touch, or maybe the blue was buffed off; but not from the frame?

That is the same gun JDW - I recognize it. It was originally listed though an auction house in Montrose, GA and had been bid up to 3-4K before the auction house (to their credit) pulled the auction.

I am guessing the seller of the LC Smith is Buck's pawn shop in Lindale, Georgia based on GB handle and location. I emailed through Gunbroker. This thing needs to be removed from circulation. https://www.facebook.com/Bucks-Pawn-Gun-Shop-160691697286686/timeline/

The 2 7/8 inch Super-Ten shell didn't come out until well after Hunter Arms Co./L.C. Smith quit making 10-gauge guns. At the time they were making 10-gauge guns the heaviest loads offered by our North American ammunition companies were 4 1/4 drams of bulk smokeless powder or 34 grains of dense smokeless powder such as Infallible or Ballistite pushing 1 1/4 ounce of shot out of a 2 7/8 inch paper case.

Dave, that is one of the reasons the 10 gauge was discontinued. The Longrange wildfowl gun with 3 inch chambers used 1 3/8 oz. of shot.
