I bought that 99 after you guys mentioned it. I have a left hand pattern stock for the 99 that I have been saving for such a project. The bore is great on the gun and there is no rust, just worn finish. The rear sight is a windage adjustable blade sight, very well made. It functions just like an aperture sight and gives a sharp picture even to my eyes. I'd venture that the sight is worth what I have in the whole thing.
The fore end tip is horn, a nice bonus!
I plan on restocking it, then shape the lever to the new grip, have the lever case hardened and the gun rust blued. I already have a lifetime supply of 303 brass for the two 99s in 303 now in my collection.
