Seeing Steve Bertram's post above reminded me of the A Grade Fox pictured below which had a barrel split off from the rib and "fixed" with bondo. SKB put it right for me...Geo

Had it been an English gun as there is a gap between the tubes at the muzzle I would assume that the barrel has been shortened .But there is a fitted stop piece in the bottom but not the top so the question is has the top stop or plug come out and the ends just filled with solder ? I do not know how Fox ribs were finished i.e. did the ribs have a fitted end or were the ends just plugged with shaped pieces ?
As you have rejected the gun the question is now academic .

Too bad the auction house didn't show a pic of the muzzles before you bought. Good that they made the deal right.

I'm guessing the price would have to be pretty low if someone wanted it for a fixer upper.

Again, I'm new to this so if I say something ignorant, it's because I am, in this area.

Wasn't that low, but a graded Fox small bore has gotten pricey to say the least. After all was said and done I would have had about 4.5K into the gun and it would have been stocked to fit me. That was worth it to me. They only made a few thousand 20 gauge Foxes and that included all barrel lengths. 26" barrels seem to be the most common by far.

looks like someone put on a 2 pin Ithaca style raybar sight ...then removed it; put a bead in the front hole and pin in the rear....all done half drunk in the garage work shop....

This is good food for thought. Seeing what the expense would be for repairing the barrels is an eye opener.

It can certainly be a bottomless pit if one isn't careful.

Could of sworn that I have seen raybar and/or rifle type front sites that were just meant to be pushed in to ribbed shotguns with 2 tapered posts....maybe Im just getting old....
