Does anyone know if extra stocks are available for Ithaca/SKB?

Try to get the lightest 20 ga loads you can find. That little 20 SKB will have some pretty hefty kick for a young girl. I shot my buddy's wife's Rem 870 20 gauge and was shocked at the delivered recoil and I weigh 230! You don't want to scare them away. Recoil is something you get use to with experience.

I had a 20 ga SKB in the 70s, stock comb was too low for me, but I'm an old rifle shooter, get down hard on the stock. Tried a stick-on cheek pad, but it looked like Marilyn Monroe with galoshes on-sold it, made my own stocks after that. Well made gun, but if you push the barrel selector only part way over for the left barrel, it doubled--with 3" mag shells!! Spun me around, very disconcerting

Plenty of good used ones out there that are far better quality than Huglu or Stogeger IGA. Last time I went to LGS they had Ted Williams 400 for $650. They don't cost $400 like they used to but 20ga Kodensh-Winchester 101 for $650 is decent deal.

I can't see any reason a young lady should be recoil shy of a Ithaca SKB 20 ga., with reasonable loads. My grandson, at age 10, shot my 200E for a whole season on doves with no problems, using 7/8 oz. loads. The load is the issue.

A sound Miroku CharlesDaly or Western Auto, or BSS need take a back seat to no other gun. Some are finished prettier, but if it fits, you can use it for a lifetime. My favorite Grouse gun is an SKB, but they are less stout than a Miroku and can be shot loose. I have never seen a loose Miroku.

I would have loved to have this when I was a youngster, wouldn't mind it now either:

To all you good folks that have been kind enough to help me with gun ideas for the kids I want to say thanks. We have completed the quest by just purchasing our last Miroku 500. We were able to get three, one 12 and two twenties in very good condition, and stay within our budget. The kids had a great day shooting clay birds with their new guns here on the farm. Hunting is just weeks away and they all have completed hunters safety. Thanks especially to Retired Warden John who put us over the top by selling his 20 gauge for a bargain price. Gun folks are good folks.

That's awesome! Hope they have safe hunts and enjoy the memories. You've got me thinking of picking some of these up for my kids.
