This early Model 21 has been for sale at about $4,000 for quite a while.

First year Serial No.
Supposedly unmolested and not refinished
12 ga. 30" barrels Modified/Full, 14" LOP

Does this look like the real deal?

Is it a $4000 gun?

Thank you in advance.

Looks pretty rough. You observed that it's been for sale at that price for a long time. There's the answer to your question.

Good point.

Anyone have an idea about a market price for a gun like this?

I'd guess the market price for that gun is about 4K, which is the asking price. Question is how many folks are willing to part with that much money for an only fair condition Model 21 in the most common gauge and barrel configuration?...Geo

Nice solid looking gun w/ honest wear on it.

But unless you're really in love w/the short ser#,,
it's still an Extractor, D/T M21 12ga.
With the wood and metal finish wear it shows, it should be at least $1000 less IMHO.

The price is optimistic to say the least. If they want to sell it they need to drop the price a grand. If they like trolling for suckers it is correctly priced. Keep looking or just offer them what you want to p[ay for it. Worst they can do is say no.

I'll never understand the attraction of the Model 21. Heavy for gauge, unattractive lines, crazy expensive.

I'll never understand why detractors of the 21 often seem compelled to express their lack of understanding ... which contributes what to this discussion?

I've owned several 21's. I found them to be solid, dependable guns which never gave me a minutes problem. Not everyone wants a light weight wand in their doubles. Shoot half a box of heavy loads and you'll apriciate a 21 a lot more than a 6 1/2 pound light weight gun. Shoot three shells a day and it does not matter.

Back to this gun I think the reason it and guns like it linger for sale so long is that you can find another one like it for the same money or less. No incentive to buy it. It's a good buy at three and not at four. Simple as that. For four I would keep looking and end up with a better gun.
