Thank god Parker made a quarter of a million guns and they are not all collectors. I have a number of SxS shotguns and only a few are true collectible guns. This Gun is very fairly priced in my opinion and would not hesitate to buy the gun if I needed an 0 frame 16 and a call to the seller confirmed the bores are good.
For $75.00 I can replace the pad using my local stock guy, and that includes the price of the Galazan solid rubber pad.
I have seen too many guns get bad press based on pictures, personal opinions and SWAG's. Later to see where after the purchase the new owner with gun in hand describes the gun and shows pictures and everyone wished they would have jumped on it.
I bought a reproduction 2 barrel set Parker 28 gauge for $3800 just this last fall. Gun had been restocked and had a 15 1/2" length of pull.
The price had been dropped twice when I bought it. One call to the seller had me convinced it was a bargain. Gun was bought new and sent to Pachmayr to be restocked with a great piece of English walnut. Gun had been shot only once before being cleaned and put away.
Was it original, no. Did it have a pad installed yes. Did the stock replicate the original, yes. Pictures appeared as if it did not have drop points. When I received the gun, it was absolute perfect condition. Case and cover like new and it still had the original lititure in the case with all unused rod and assesories. Case had been modified to accomidate the longer stock, but was easily reversed once the stock was cut down and pad refit at the total cost of $75.00.
My hunting partner had wanted a Parker 28 gauge for a few years but price was always out of reach. Now he is the proud owner of a nice reproduction with a set of 26" barrels choked Q1 and Q2 and a 28" set choked MOD./ IC
