I think the hingepin shows signs of having been swelled to tighten it. I watched Walter tighten an old drilling for a customer that didn't have enough money for a correct repair. One of the things he did was swell the hinge pin by supporting one end and with a punch and heavy shop hammer,strike the other end "smartly".Another possibility would be setting a tapered pin deeper to tighten it(if pin is tapered).Also the owner of a gunshop didn't have to be a meister,if there was one on staff. As always, I could be wrong. BTW, I guess the X47 could have even been added by the owner or his agent.

It appears there is a divot as if from a center punch in one end of the hinge pin but that doesn't seem like what you're talking about or is it? I get the impression you mean a punch approximately the same size as the hinge pin..yes, no?. In a few of the photos it also appears the pin stands a little proud of one side.

Thanks Gunwolf for the find!! As for the pin it was out a little on one side and I gently tapped it back flush with a punch.

Gunwolf, that makes sense because when you goole map the address (Streitzeuggasse 90, 50667 Köln, Germany) it is a downtown area building right near the Rhine River. You have found him, Kudos!! Thanks!!

Vadrilling, next Saturday I will probably go to Cologne as I do often. Will visit the Streitzeuggasse, which I pass always by car…But I think, it's a little bit short for 90
House numbers.. W'ill see and tell you.
By the way, it's only some hundred meters from famous Glockengasse, where 4711 Cologne is situated. ;-)

The punch Walter used was about the dia. of the hinge pin, as you thought. However,Vadrilling solved the mystery.

Just some info on the Streitzeuggasse for those who are interested. The Streitzeuggasse today is very short as seen on Google Maps. Only ten or twelve buildings. The part in which C. Adam lived was across the Tunisstrasse and today is named Brüderstrasse.

Well, I was wrong, just ind the true history: http://www.bilderbuch-koeln.de/Fotos/alt...storisch_132085After WW II they build the new Opera over a part of the Streitzeuggasse. The western part today is named "Am alten Posthof". On the picture is seen Streitzeuggasse 82, five buildings earlier than C. Adam. Cheers, Wolfgang
