I've been fortunate enough to hunt pheasants over labs, springers, setters, cockers (awesome pheasant dogs), and my trial brits. I'm pretty confident out to 40-45 yards with his gun..... Several years ago in SD I put my 12ga down and havent shot it since. Last month we brought our 20's to South Africa for a 4 day bird hunt. For our Egyptian Goose hunt the PH brought a couple 12's because he thought the 20's would be too light for decoyed geese. We killed plenty of geese, but that night while shooting ducks with our 20's, we also took the three passing Egytpians that came close. Our PH's respond was "well, I guess I didn't need to lug around those 12ga's now did I"! Now, with that said, I'd LOVE to have a classic American double in 16ga, but for now, my little LC Smith will work just fine for me.
