Well I'm no expert but here goes. According to the description at the auction. It is a Winchester made 1917 Enfield 30-06. The serial number online shows it was made in Dec. 1917. The barrel bore looks new but is original military because it has the bomb thing. The metal looks great and the blue is also. The trigger is kind of heavy also the 2 staged original. The triggerguard has been straightened (Whatever that means?) The stock is really nice walnut and that is what I liked because the checkering according to a ruler is 28 lines in an inch. Still pretty sharp. The checkering is a sort of geometric look. Overlapping sections. Our gunsmith said it is the best he has seen in a long time. Recoil pad is one of those old red ones people are crazy for. My cousin told me someone had ground the ears off and it is drilled for a scope and has a peep sight. It has a new bolt handle the other one my cousin called Dog leg. It is heavy but that is good because I want a 375HH one day. If I don't find a nice old one I will try to convert it.(not me!) I shoot off a stick thing in Montana so if I get tired lugging it around I'm still steady. When I saw it I thought it was new. That's all I know. Thanx for the b'day wish. Hallye
