Check out the colors on the BE Fox.

Are they original? Redone cyanide colors? Or original?

I can't decide.

Thanks

OWD

Something does not feel right to me, maybe torched?

Then again the engraving appears sharp, but the color is off.

I'd bet $1,000,000.00 on it, but maybe we should get the opinion of an expert on torch colors.

The typical torch oxides are formed at a higher temperature. I believe when I see the rusty yellow/orange oxides, I am seeing fluid deposition. Especially when they appear well and evenly distributed on the item. Just my opinion.

Out there doing it best I can.

I'd say redone with cyanide. That said, when was the gun made. All the early ones were done in Bone Charcoal and that sure isn't bone charcoal. I'm not sure when they changed the engraving on the B's, but I'll bet most if not all of the first generation engraving were done in Bone Charcoal vice cyanide.

Sorry. Forgot to include a link to it on Gunbroker.com:

It's a real early one -- 1909 -- so the colors must have been redone.

Thanks,

OWD

I have an 1909 C grade that I'm pretty sure was redone with cyanide:
