My only comments are that the colors on the frame look very good, but they got a little out of whack on the lock plates.

Looks like possibly Buck Hamlin to my eyes. Sweet 20 Trap grade, with HOT and ejectors- How long are the barrels and how are they choked- Does this Elsie have 2.5" chambers? If so, what safe loads for SD pheasant can you use in it?? I admire the smaller gauges (except the crippling .410 bore) but to me, pheasants are a 12 gauge game bird-RWTF

It has 26" barrels and they are choked IC/MOD. It does have 2 1/2" chambers and I've used RST's 7/8oz #5's with great success on pheasant. I'm a firm believer that a 20ga will kill any bird in the world easily. Well, with the exception of spur wing geese in Africa. And even then, you shoot for the head and not the body. Bill Schwarz did the work.

OK, thanks- I gave it a "shot", right? I use RST shells 100% in all my 5 LC Smiths-four are graded pre-1913 guns, one with Damascus barrels, all have DT, 3 have Ejectors (May 1901 patent series) and all are 12 gauge. My guess is, you hunt pheasant with a close working pointing dog maybe??

I've been fortunate enough to hunt pheasants over labs, springers, setters, cockers (awesome pheasant dogs), and my trial brits. I'm pretty confident out to 40-45 yards with his gun..... Several years ago in SD I put my 12ga down and havent shot it since. Last month we brought our 20's to South Africa for a 4 day bird hunt. For our Egyptian Goose hunt the PH brought a couple 12's because he thought the 20's would be too light for decoyed geese. We killed plenty of geese, but that night while shooting ducks with our 20's, we also took the three passing Egytpians that came close. Our PH's respond was "well, I guess I didn't need to lug around those 12ga's now did I"! Now, with that said, I'd LOVE to have a classic American double in 16ga, but for now, my little LC Smith will work just fine for me.
