A better picture.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

Four months later....

Stripped the wood and applied a few coats of oil finish. Checkering cleaned up very nicely and did not need to be recut.
Made and installed the spring.
Did a compete strip and clean of the internals.
Reblacked the trigger guard and a few screws.
Repaired the broken buttplate.

Got it all together a couple of hours ago.

I may checker the replacement section of the buttplate after the epoxy has had 24 hours to set up, but likely will just leave it as is.

In the pic are the broken spring, the mild steel practice spring I made and the piece of spring stock that a friend kindly sent.

New spring can be seen installed on the bottom of the tang. Difficult little bugger compared to larger mainsprings and similar.
