I totally understand the temptation of using Gunman and other's advice to use modern glues but I would strongly advise you to follow Damascus's advice.
Generally, once you use a non reversible PVA glue like Copydex, you will destroy or at least damage the label if it ever needs to be removed.
It breaks my heart when I find a very sad old case with a good label and discover it is virtually un-removable because someone has taken a short cut and used PVA or equivalent.
Likewise with alterations and repairs to the internals of cases.
I sympathise with the urge to grab a modern glue but I wish people wouldn't! They have their place is structural repair of stocks etc (maybe not PVA but epoxy and cyanoacrylate work miracles) but should be kept out of antique guncases other than is an emergency.
