Now I am feeling like a real dumb xxx. I was first loser on the bid, deciding that it had reached a point where after collecting the proper pieces to "correct" it, I was in the realm of an already correct piece. One had just gone for $1700 on GB IIRC. I knew from Brophy, that it was at the end of a group of sporters so should be legit. The "plastic" buttplate threw me and I had even bid on a NOS one on eBay in the event I did get this. I figured I might have a need for it sooner or later anyway. Guess I better up my game and my knowledge base, although I would rather do the latter by losing a few than buying some real piece of junk.

Hopefully this doesn't disappear into a dark hole and we learn more about it. I know I get more knowledgeable every time there is an auction and something like this gets discussed here. Now if I would only get smarter at the same time life would be great. LOL.

I didn't come away empty handed, picking up this heavily modified Winchester 95 for a shooter. It isn't a collectible so I will not feel bad about using it. As a southpaw and cartridge junky, it gives me another big bore for slinging cast bullets down range and a new (to me) cartridge to play with. Looks like a repo Winchester Red pad would fit where the spacer is and make it aesthetically more pleasing, while also more enjoyable.
