If I was trying to sell those guns I would take some better pictures, pretty fuzzy.

Beauties for sure.

You can read more about the history of Boss guns here:

http://www.bossguns.co.uk/history.asp

To me, Boss guns were just another nice London gun until Robertson took over. You can read about him here:

http://www.bossguns.co.uk/robertsonhistory.asp

His inventions, innovations, and overall aesthetic sense put Boss at the top of the London trade.

As for Africa, I don't think Boss built a lot of double rifles. I know of a .470 SxS, but that was recent gun. I also know of an O/U rifle that I think was made in the 1940s. I'm sure there are a few more, but not many.

I know of far more Boss pigeon guns than double rifles.

1958, I did say India did't I.
Maybe most of the Westleys you see today, certainly the rifles are from the Raj's own gunroom.
Westley did a great buy back business from the royals when the times got tough.
My own 360 #3 case express double came out of India - or so Simon said!

Now I'm not value driven so!
...and if you got the bucks to play, but I'd be hanged if there was much difference between a Boss that was way too much, and a Henry Atkin that was priced about right.
To my mind's eye the Atkin was a big time player, even tho' it was some 30K less than the Boss.
I couldn't find the 30K difference...bet most couldn't either!
The Atkin was tops, the Boss had some wear, but still you could vibe-out both when new.

When I dream of old Raj Charlie Lancaster always seems to haunt me in a good kind of way.

Atkins are nice, especially the spring openers:

http://www.atkingrantandlang.co.uk/gundetails.asp?id=349

But a Boss is better - I prefer their ejectors, the cocking mechanism, and overall look and feel (especially the Boss hand). To my eye, they're the sleekiest, sexiest shotguns ever made.

If I had the $$$, I would buy both of those prs at Jaquas right away. I misplaced that extra $200 large, though.

I doubt you'll see any better prs of Bosses for a while.

And right on about the pics. At the very least, those guys should learn how to focus a camera. If I was the consignor, I'd give them to Drake instead. At least he takes good pics.

I've come full circle on best gameguns - even the most well-off gunner might not be able to know if a Boss fell from the sky and landed on his head. There were a number of makers outside of the big four who could come damn near Boss quality, that it so much turned it(Boss) into a status piece for the really well-off!
A hair seperates the really good guns.

Dang - it looks like they're all sold.

I knew they would get gobbled up pretty fast.

Did you get the money all in line only to find them gone?

Someday I think you will trade your way to a Boss.
