After seeing this process, and the actual labor involved, I have a greater than ever appreciation for these bbls. While I do not own a serviceable gun with these style pipes, I do have a barrel full of old Damascus bbl SXS shotguns in worse than wall hanger condition that my father left. I think I will treat them with a bit more reverence now, and maybe clean them up and actually put them on a wall someplace.

How intriguing. Perhaps the first step would be ID'ing them first. Then, an evaluation of the one's that are interesting. If you already know what they are, how about a list and some pictures?
