Does anyone on the board own a RBL ? I am seriously contiplating in purchasing one. I am swinging in to Connecticut gun room first week of August to put my hands on one and see how the gun feels. Any info or personnel insight would be appreciated

I got them all as they came out, and have been very pleased. I didn't much like the handling of the heavy RBL-12 I got originally, but Lou got me into one of the light RBL-12s. I shoot the RBL-16 more than any of the others, and it has really become my second "go to" gun after my 1914 vintage A-Grade Fox I've been shooting since 1966. RBL-16. RBL-20 and RBL-28 -- Been having a lot of fun shooting skeet with the little one --

It's as much as a museum as a gun store, with all sorts of very nice, high end double shotguns and double rifles. I could spend a million dollars in there without even trying.
I have become addicted to English hammered shotguns to the detriment of my wallet.

I have a straight-stocked (extra length Exhibition Turkish) 20 gauge which i enjoy very much. It was a very early gun, and had a high gloss urethane finish which i didn't like. CSMC redid it in oil for no charge. I'm a happy camper

For pheasant hunting I use my base grade RBL16 more than any other gun -- probably 25-30 day's per season. Well, not exactly base, had to pay a little extra for a buttplated stock instead of the bulky interchangeable pad setup. Weight's a comfortable (for me) 6 lbs. 10 oz. I expected to bend the stock for higher comb, but it came stocked higher than spec, and with a thin pad for a little more LOP fit me perfectly out of the box. My only quibble is that the left barrel bluing has thinned with wear near the breech from carrying laid back on my shoulder -- surprised me to see this already after several seasons of use. Jay

I have one of the first guns delivered. All of those 'launch guns' were 20's. It has been shot quite a lot since then, almost exclusively at dove and pigeons. I've taken it out of the country several times for that purpose and also used it on perdiz, but on a much smaller number of rounds. It is a delightful field gun for that purpose and has never given me the first issue. It is not a clay target gun if one is going to shoot it pre-mounted, but it was never intended to be. I remain very fond of it for 'take all comers' dove shooting.

I have Serial #12 of the Launch Edition, along with a couple of other 20's and 28's. The quality improved as production increased. I have been very happy with my RBL's. That first 20ga has been to South Dakota several times and has been very effective on pheasants and sharptails. Personally, I find the 16's and 12's kind of "clunky" in the handling department compared to other makes. But that's a personal thing and everybody will have a different perspective.

Unless specially ordered without, the 16s and 12s came with an interchangeable pad system that added several ounces of weight.
