Interesting to see the Division of Labor. It appears that the skills required to make the Ribands and twist them into rough tubes was separate from the forging process then required to weld the tubes. The Smith's equipment was clearly different, especially the Anvil. The grinding stones were very impressive, as was the degree of expertise required to complete the tubes.

Wow--really makes one appreciate what went into making damascus guns that one may have in his/her possession.

I had not seen this film before, also I would like to say that those barrel Smiths must have had skin on their hands like Chrome tanned leather and of course no nerve endings.

Leighton, nice find, in fact this silent movie is made in 1924/25 and is the property of a museum in Li�ge in other words le Mus�e de la vie Wallonne. I negiated with that museum that one of our members, Peter Mikalajunas obtain that movie. Peter, put a lot of effort to digitalise that movie and put music on it. Peter, who can't defend himself for the moment first oppose himself when that movie appeers on y-tube before and y-tube remove the movie after his protest.
Now a second time a more or less copy of that movie is again available on y-tube.
