Thanks for posting this.
Interesting to see the Division of Labor. It appears that the skills required to make the Ribands and twist them into rough tubes was separate from the forging process then required to weld the tubes. The Smith's equipment was clearly different, especially the Anvil. The grinding stones were very impressive, as was the degree of expertise required to complete the tubes.
Regards ken

I had not seen this film before, also I would like to say that those barrel Smiths must have had skin on their hands like Chrome tanned leather and of course no nerve endings. Thank you for posting.

Leighton, nice find, in fact this silent movie is made in 1924/25 and is the property of a museum in Liége in other words le Musée de la vie Wallonne. I negiated with that museum that one of our members, Peter Mikalajunas obtain that movie. Peter, put a lot of effort to digitalise that movie and put music on it. Peter, who can't defend himself for the moment first oppose himself when that movie appeers on y-tube before and y-tube remove the movie after his protest. Now a second time a more or less copy of that movie is again available on y-tube. Greetings from Belgium, Marc.

Marc. Is Les Amis du Musee D'Armes de Liege the same institution as Musee de la vie Wallonne? Thank you.

Leighton, this is a bootleg copy of the hard work Pete Mikalajunas put into producing and is available through him. He has always been a very good member of this board and out of respect for him It might be proper for you remove the link from your post.

I have no connection to either movie, but Musee de la Vie Wallonne (the apparent source for this YouTube) is on Cour des Mineurs in Liège Les Amis du Musee D'Armes de Liege (PeteM's source for the movie) is on Place du Marché and appears to be another institution http://www.grandcurtiusliege.be/collections/departement-des-armesI could certainly be mistaken, but 'bootleg' implies stealing
