On Gunsamerica (www.gunsamerica.com) there is a Stevens single shot hammerless 12 guage for sale as item #944621534. It is a modest but sleek shotgun, and I've never seen one except recently I saw another 12 in a shop in "Little Saigon" (Westminster, CA). That one has the old Stevens pre-Savage address and name on the side of the receiver. No model number on either one, nor serial number nor guage marking.

This ISN'T a Savage 220--very different receiver shape, trigger guard, and checkered stock of decent walnut. As much as I like the 219/220s, this is a cut above--would have made a good informal before-the-barbecue trap gun and all-around shotgun for those of modest taste/funds.

Anybody know what model this is and/or when it was offered? I would say pre-Savage 220 ('20s or early '30s) but that's a pure guess....

The J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. made some very nice hammerless singles before The Great War. The gun in question looks like a No. 180 --



They also made a Trap Gun version, the No. 182 --



A bit later they made the No. 181 and 183 --

Researcher is right. I think the gun is a Stevens 180. The Models 181, 182, and 183 were made differently. The later with the features of a higher priced gun. The last three models were of different construction than the Model 180 with more details designed for trap shooting.
