On Gunsamerica (
www.gunsamerica.com) there is a Stevens single shot hammerless 12 guage for sale as item #944621534. It is a modest but sleek shotgun, and I've never seen one except recently I saw another 12 in a shop in "Little Saigon" (Westminster, CA). That one has the old Stevens pre-Savage address and name on the side of the receiver. No model number on either one, nor serial number nor guage marking.
This ISN'T a Savage 220--very different receiver shape, trigger guard, and checkered stock of decent walnut. As much as I like the 219/220s, this is a cut above--would have made a good informal before-the-barbecue trap gun and all-around shotgun for those of modest taste/funds.
Anybody know what model this is and/or when it was offered? I would say pre-Savage 220 ('20s or early '30s) but that's a pure guess....
