They are an invasive species. They are in places here in AZ in Biblical numbers. I did not renew my membership to the Clays range
because there are so many of them 2 mi from my house.

Before giving a lecture you should always check your facts.

OK fine. Shoot the shit out of 'em if it satisfies one's blood lust. Wipe 'em out if they're such a problem, which I doubt.

I'll have to go with the 'vermin' label, but shooting during nesting is a rough ethics call. All the DNRs say they represent a threat to our native Mourning Doves, so I'm going to have to congratulate wannago with finding a cool way to shoot up some Summer ammo. One of those birds isn't a collared; pigeon maybe?...Geo

Texas Game Rules say this

Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Annual 2014-2015

"The only birds not protected by any state or federal law are
European starlings, English sparrows, feral rock doves(common pigeon - Columba livia), and
Eurasian collared-doves; these species may be killed at any time, their nests or eggs destroyed, and their feathers may be possessed. Yellow-headed, red-winged, rusty, or Brewers blackbirds and all grackles,
cowbirds (does not include cattle egret), crows, or magpies may be controlled without a federal or state
depredation permit when found committing or about to commit depredations on ornamental or shade trees, agricultural crops, livestock, or wildlife, or when concentrated in numbers and in a manner that constitutes a health hazard or other nuisance."

I only saw a handful of Mourning doves today in what had been in the past their territory. Yes Geo there is a pigeon in the lot.
I am pretty sure it wasn't a spotted owl.
There are hundreds of E Doves flying about the neighborhood in the evening. I stand in my backyard and practice my form by dry firing at them.

Good shooting wannabe! As for some folks opinions on the matter, lets just say it's hard for them to be humble when they're so perfect.
