I have a shotgun that I want to remove the recoil pad from. I have now noticed that it does not appear that the pad is screwed on. There are no screw holes. Is it glued on and how can I tell? It is on tight. It is a Pachmayr pad. Suggestions?

You probably just can't see the fine slits above where the screws are.

Lubricating the screwdriver tip with a lubricant like dishwashing soap or KY jelly will help keep the pad from being damaged. Who knew there was another use for KY?

I use Armor All to lubricate the screwdrivers tips before poking around looking for slots and when I put in or take off screws.

Watchout, I had a gun with Pachmayr pad which turn out to be attached not with screws but with hundreds of little brass tacks points like a porcupine. My gunsmith who was to remove it failed to grasped how it was attached and in try to remove it incorrectly. He cracked the stock on a 7k gun.

Be very wary of assuming screws or screws alone. Sometimes people have glued them or tacked them and God knows what else
