I totally agree with David (JDW), older guns with the patina of age look best with barrels that are refinished with a soft pattern. You won't live long enough to wear down a bright pattern to blend in. Years ago I sent Keith Kearcher a set of Parker barrels that had all the pattern worn off where it was carried. The rest of the barrels still had a bit of finish remaining. After discussing it with Keith he experimented and only cleaned the barrels before rusting--he did nothing to remove the old finish. After a few rustings the worn area took on the same appearance as the rest of the barrels. Beautiful and didn't look refinished. Something to consider......
