jager: i too have a fondness for ithaca 37's...
the pre war guns with the checkered stock and forend are my favorite...
only pump gon i like better is the remington 17...
I always inspect Ithaca 37s in used gun racks. I have kept one shotgun and it is old 37 with 30" full choke barrel. It was once owned by US Government shipped sometime in 1942 to Raritan Arsenal, Metuchen, NJ. While I don't hunt or shoot at anything with shotgun anymore that one was Interesting enough gun for me to buy and keep. Interestingly it has very good balance and handling for mass produced weapon of this type. The weight empty is just 6lb9oz which is not a lot for 12ga with 30 barrels.
