So many people changing to CNC can be good for a hobby machinist.There are now a good many manual American made machines on the market and because many were replaced to upgrade for modernazation rather than wear, many are in good shape.Don't be afraid of 3phase machines, you can often get them cheaper(sometimes a lot cheaper)and conversion units are easy. Besides, instant reversing sometimes is handy.
