JM, the SKB's are made in Turkey. The maker is AKUS. They also make the Dickinson's and the Webley & Scott doubles. They were the makers of the S&W and Kimber doubles as well. They tend to be of much better quality than your normal Turk offerings. I have a 16ga Dickinson and I can assure you it's a good quality piece.

I immediately looked for a 32" barrel on the 12 bores. Unfortunately not! A slight redesign with 32" barrels, a semi-beavertail forearm, keep the single trigger and a Prince of Whales grip and I might be temped but only for the clays and traps. I agree with others out in the fields it's a different gun I'd choose.

I think that the big marketing job will be to convince target shooters that a SxS is the way to go. That said, I'm not a target shooter and all of my bird guns are SxS's with straight stocks and splinter fore ends. My favorites have double triggers and I too think that PG's and beaver tails are an abomination. Just so you know, Jim, there are sxs events at most SC tournaments now, and more and more shooters participating in those. This gun is aimed at that market. I love the full pistol grip and semi-beavertail. You have much better control of a gun with these features, and that's a good thing. JR

I don't like overly long barrels, but a friend got a Dickinson with I think 32" barrels. He said they can custom order stuff if you are not in a big hurry. Contact Dickinson direct.

I don't know who "us" is here, KY, but I've got a little piece of news for you; those of us who are "die hard clay target shooters" know that pistol grips and semi-beavertail forends are most definitely more controllable and easier to shoot/hit your target with than a classic British game gun. It's why the Win. 21 has such a following and reputation. For the purist who mostly totes and gazes upon his shotgun, the double trigger/splinter/straight grip is just the ticket. JR

A dedicated target gun is not going to appeal to the classic SXS aficionado. Nor will it appeal to the hunter. It's a completely different animal and there is really no reason to compare. I will have a dedicated target gun (that fits) one of these days. It may not be aesthetically pleasing to some, but it will get the job done. It will have a slim BT forearm, 32" barrels (min.) .015 & 025 fixed chokes, a vent rib and a vertical style grip stock with a palm swell. I am cursed (or blessed) with large hands. Straight stocks with splinter forearms feel like gripping a broom handle. As for looks I don't think there is anything more svelte than a straight grip SL with splinter forearm and 30-32" tubes. MHO of course!
