A friend of mine has a L.C. Smith 12 gauge. The serial number is 124XXX which puts production in 1905, and it has 00 under the serial number. It has 28" barrels and an English straight stock. However, the gun is highly engraved to the point it looks nicer than a grade 5 gun. Does anyone know why a 00 grade LC Smith would be so well engraved?
