However, my neighbor at the Baltimore Gun Show is a Davenport expert, has a mint Davenport eight that he will not sell to me. He has a very nice collection and gets the big buck for high condition guns of large bore.

Here's the Davenport 8g Elite Heavy Target ad from the 1904 Supplee Hdw. Co. catalog. Now "Armour" steel; used by Meriden Fire Arms and Crescent for decarbonized steel. Hunter Arms "Armour"/later "Armor" was comparable to 1211 rephosphorized and resulfurized low alloy steel as well as 1045 "plain carbon steel". https://sites.google.com/a/damascusknowledge.com/www/home
