You can find a number of great long out of print books by searching Google Books. Of particular interest to me was The Modern Shotgun by Walsh.

Slightly 'off topic', but a book I have particularly enjoyed is "The Diary of Colonel Peter Hawker"

Hawker was a keen shooting and fishing man in the early 19th Century and customer of Joseph Manton. He kept a diary which was later edited (to include mainly the sporting activities and remove family matters) and published. I find it a fascinating read and would recommend it to any 'sporting' person who likes a good read.

It is widely available as a reprint in two versions, single volume and 2 volume.

Hawker also wrote the better known "Instructions to Young Sportsmen in all that relates to Guns and Shooting" which ran to many editions. It is less readable than the diaries, but provides an interesting insight into the period.
