Using my mike there is no deformation. It has a very easy "clip clutch" mechanism that prevents putting enough force on the spindle to deform lead shot. No, they aren't precisely round, but if you take enough measurements and average them you come up with an accurate enough measurement.

I bought 12 flats of the RIO 7 1/2s recently, and have used another 15-16 of them in the last year. Never miked any, but if they measure as you say, Leighton, I'm glad I bought the 7 1/2s and not the 8s. I really like the RIOs, having used them on doves and targets for the last year and a half.
