The black Hawkins that I've seen were repro, and quite heavy.

I was on the Parker site and there was a reference to the Red Silvers (not orange) pad being available around 1905. Does that sound correct?

Sorry not really much help. Top to bottom. Orig. Jostam, CSMC generic, no shoc repro, original Silvers w/ top spur, Hawkins repro.
On an Ithaca I prefer the Sunburst Ithaca pad hands down

It is a real shame that all these various repro pads are being made, but the one pad that was used more on vintage American doubles than all the others combined, the Jostam Anti-Flinch has not yet been reproduced.

Why would repros be a real shame? It's 2015; should we all be using accessories from MagPul?

What I was trying to say is that it is a shame that no one is reproducing the Jostam Anti-Flinch, as that was the pad most used on vintage American doubles.

What is MagPul?

Researcher is correct on the Jostam AF pad. Really hard to find a good NOS or decent used one. 7 slot pads do come up, sometimes, but the 6 slot pad (for small bores) are virtually a needle in the haystack.

I've bought NOS Hawkins heart and trestle pads off fleabay from time to time and have the heart pad on two of my Foxes now. Both pads bought off fleabay. I have also purchased a couple of NOS NoShoc pads there and I like these pads also.

I do not care for the repop pads being made and would not buy one. Just my two cents.

Ahhhh I see, I guess I should read a little more precisely, Mr. Researcher. Oh well, pads, like guns, like dogs, or like women are a matter your own opinion or personal preference. I would never add one to a gun that doesn't have one. Even if I wanted the LOP I wouldn't put new screw holes in the butt, but I would take a repro over a white line pad every time. I also think the solid orange look is classy but hey that's my opinion.
In an effort to be helpful I will add that I have not had a gun with a large enough buttplate "footprint" to use the CSMC Hawkins diamond repro, fitting would cut into the vents on everything I have tried. The NoShoc is very nice, thinner and overall smaller pad.
I was joking about MagPul, are you joking back or am I lowering the class of the group? They do black gun accessories of all sorts.

Marks 21,

In an effort to be helpful I will add that I have not had a gun with a large enough buttplate "footprint" to use the CSMC Hawkins diamond repro, fitting would cut into the vents on everything I have tried.

I had a feeling this was the case when I looked at the pad size and the location of the vents.
Thanks.

The repro Hawkins is the 15 heart size. The 13 heart pad would be more useful to most of us. The 15 heard repro was almost too much for a big stock on a 2-frame Parker Bros. --
