Even remotely from Slovenia, I think you to be spot on. The J. Specht advert is the exact same sporting weapon. I think this example speaks volumes as Collath was sourcing components or things in the white from other gun making centres.

Everyone,

Thank you for your input and guidance. I have put the shotgun up on Guns International asking $1990 and accepting offers.

I figure that is the best way to get solicitations for the gun.

Time will tell. 20 people have already looked at it...

Your shotgun appears to be identical to one I have. Were you able to sell it?

In the last decade of the 19th Century he was located at Rycerska 3(Ritterstraße 3) where his successor( nastepca wlaczone) J.K. Chmielewski acquired the business circa WWI. Just a guess, but it is highly possible that this was his son-in-law. At this juncture the shingle read J.SPECHT nastepca wlaczone J.K. Chmielewski till WWII at Franciszka Ratajczaka 3, which appears to be the same location but a name change was made post WWI.

Looks like old add from Lowiec Polski from sometime after smokeless powder was introduced.

Firearms and ammunition factory established in 1864. He stores powder supply and has range on location. He recommends his own and foreign weaponry from vast selection. This weaponry utilizes newest and best developments. He also recommends his own ammunition loaded to highest standards made using both black power and smokeless powder. Firearms can also be repaired and modified there.
