Bill, after firing the gun and ejecting the hulls when you close the gun that pushes the ejector hammers back. Even if ejector hammers will not stay cocked the gun should not be hard to close.It would eject fired shells as well if ejectors not cocked.Have you tried a different brand shell? Maybe chambers are tight and shells not going in chambers easily causing gun very hard to close.If guns still have the problem you need to let a good doublegun man check them for you.Usually an easy job to deburr ejector sears or replace the ejector T shaped parts in nose of frame.
