Saw a rather decent 20 ga 2-3/4" chambered 20 ga. 28" M&F AE. SST, BTFE, PG solid ribbed Matador marked Firearms International, a 50's importer, 95% condition. Is $725 too much, and what about those early Spanish single selective triggers? I'd like to hear your ideas about these guns. This was a nice one with careful workmanship and attention to detail. Thanks, Chopper.

The triggers are a problem on some but I think most are still working pretty well. The Matador was imported by FI well into the sixties. The year code should be stamped on there somewhere. My Dad's old 12 gauge was about a 1960 gun with 121,000 series serial number as I recall. I can't remember what the date and serial number of my ten is. What is your number and code?

I bought (and subsequently traded) one in 12ga not long ago. Lots of creep in the trigger, but the pulls were not that bad once the slack was taken up. Chopper lump barrels, ejectors--if you like those "extras", that's quite a bit of gun for the money. Personally, if I had the option, I'd pay somewhat more for an SKB 200E--but they've been going up in price, and I expect you'd pay about $300 more, minimum, for one of those in 20ga.

I recently (1 year ago) bought one that was identical to the one you describe except mine has 3" chambers,30" barrels and 90%. I paid $425.00. Ditto the comments on the triggers. My LOP is extremely long at 15". Also pay attention to the weight. Mine is 7 1/2#.

I owned a couple 20ga AYA Matadors of that period and thought they were great guns. The 12ga of a later date were not of the same quality, particularly as mentioned above, the triggers and doubling.

My 12 was an early gun, Firearms International import (57, I think), creepy trigger and all--but I did not have any doubling problems.
