Anybody have any information on this sight? Nicely made, almost no wiggle. Google does not produce much on it. The Keith rifle listed on Amoskeag's march preview has a sight like this on it.

Tom

ps...Gary Bush, I lost your email address, PM me and I will email you more photos.

A shame that it has to have 3 holes drilled in such a small area to hold it on. Interesting design though.
First I have seen it.

I've never seen one before either.

I like that design as it doesn't add weight to the cocking piece/firing pin assembly.

I wonder if you couldn't silver solder or TIG weld the sight to the bolt sleeve for a neater look if something similar was wanted for a special project?

Nice little sight. Did it come with the adjustment key?
Looks like plenty of windage adjustment!

No key, unfortunately. I'm going to make my own. It's very nicely made and the adjustments seem to be precise. I haven't shot the rifle yet, it will be interesting to see it in action.

The screws holding it to the cocking piece look better in person.

Tom,
Before making one yourself, you may check with a clock repair shop.

It looks to me like the sight is screwed to the bolt sleeve, not the cocking piece. That to me, is the appealing feature of the sight. Is this not correct?

Not trying to be a smarty, I just want to clarify.

You are correct, I should have typed bolt sleeve. You are right, it is the appealing feature of this sight. My guess is that by the time this sight was developed, scopes were taking over as the primary sight system and this one was too late to develop any following.

What is most appealing about this sight is that it shares none of the Lyman 48's frailties. While we have come to think of the 48 as the classic peep it is easily damaged with the protruding knobs and tiny screws. Your peep appears to be petite and durable. Wish I had one.

Dennis what are your thoughts with respect to the Lyman 54?
I'm not really familiar with these sights but I thought the 48 was a pretty decent sight.
