I like the Brownells London Guns English-Style Recoil Pad Item # 535-300-100 (large) It has more 'give' than the Silvers. The Pachmayr Old English D752 doesn't look quite as 'age appropriate' but definitely absorbs recoil and comes as thin as .6". Check

The Pachmayr comes is several colors, black, brown, green and red. For some reason, the red pad does not show on their website, you have to call the order in.
