Seem to never list any stats on a gun except (maybe) LOP? Very frustrating. Like knowing that the LOP is 14 7/8 is enough for me to buy as shooter (vs a safe queen).

I really don't get it - how does anything sell?

I need DAC x DAH x LOP x cast + weight.

Ugh - their ought to be a public service announcement on GB!

Thanks for listening to my rant ...

very few people are set up to give accurate measurements and some wouldn't know what DAC, DAH and Cast even means.

You are an experienced shooter. Shooters care about lop, cast,Dac, dah, cast at toe, thumb hole measurement, balance in relation to hinge, etc. etc. Some collectors care, most don't. Then there are beginners who don't know. Btw, I like knowing all the dimensions too.

Why do people use keywords to make their products show up on searches not directed at what they have? They are trying to make money and could care less about the trouble they put others to. Why are their search engines so crappy? You are looking for a 28 gauge and get every 12 gauge with a 28" barrel on GunsInternational. The whole thing aggravates me.
Okay, rant over.

I know what your saying, many times I've been interested in a gun that does not list weight, a lot of the times the answer you get is "around 7lbs or so". Same goes for stock specs, chokes etc
I've sold a few on GB myself and I've always listed the weight, DAH, DAC, LOP, cast etc. With regards to choke, I always give it in thousands, not IC/Mod. It's not that hard to get measurements. Wall Thickness is another matter. One pet peeve of mine is weight, you can buy a decent postal scale for around $20 to $25 and they are very accurate. Weight can be important to some folks and getting an accurate weight from the bathroom scale, just don't cut it.

So....I do understand your "rant"!

Good Luck!

Greg

Greg, I'm with you. I provide all that information also when I post a gun for sale. Interestingly enough, there are quite a few dealers who specialize in doubles who don't. Also, on vintage European guns, a good picture of the barrel flats showing proofmarks would answer a lot of questions.

Length of pull? How about drops? That is more important in some ways.

A lot of sellers do list LOP, but very few list drop dimensions. And many when asked to provide it don't reply or do reply saying they don't know what you are asking them for.

If we are going to campaign for stock dimensions, lets also go for handling dimensions: weight, balance distance to (front) trigger, unmounted swing effort and mounted swing effort.

Dealers will supply such information when "the buying public" demands it.
