Hello folks! I am on the verge of buying one of these guns. http://www.gunsinternational.com/BROWNIN...613263F3BC7221B

Although there is one question on my mind. Since i am gonna use this gun regularly i need the rib of the gun to be hard soldered and not soft soldered as an english double. Is there anybody that can confirm the soldering type of the rib?

Well mate i aint actually gonna buy it from that site as well. The gun is at a dealer at UK same gun more or less, so i posted that as an example. I am trying to find out the soldering type of the rib if anyone knows it.

Well mate, I checked the lines on my 12 BSS sidelock and the ribs appear to me to be braised so I don't think the heat from your shooting is going to make the ribs come off...Geo

I hear those Browning Sidelocks are pretty nice guns, they sure look nice alright!
A nice "Modern Gun" to shoot factory loads,sweet.
When did they stop making them?

How about a call to Browning?
Have you had many ribs fall of English Guns?

Hey Franc, as far as i read they stopped making these sidelock doubles in 1987, i think they weren't selling as they hoped it would. Though people that have used and that are still using are very happy with them. I have come across 1 in UK recently which is odd because 1100 of these guns were produced(12 and 20 gauge) and i believe most of them were imported to USA. I am a big fan of English guns and i have plenty of them which i don't use frequently because of the rib coming off when i shoot too much in 1 day. Actually i had the rib come off plenty of times mate, that would be around 3 or 4 times. This gun is going to be my first choice after i buy it

Wow, enough shooting to melt the solder holding the ribs?

Do you check the ribs before buying a vintage English Gun?
Anyone else think English ribs don't hold up?

Guys i know it sounds funny but i live in Cyprus and its around 30 degrees even in winter, and imagine shooting in 45 degrees in summer,after shooting 40-50 rounds the gun wont open and i need to cool it off to start shooting again, ribs i had them comeoff plenty of times,after 20 rounds the barrels become very hot and yes that happened to me before.
