Had a chance to shoot my newly acquired Ithaca 4E SBT this weekend. Everything was great, except the ejector didn't function. Upon examination, it appears that the end of what I would call the ejector sear is broken or worn off and doesn't protrude past the end of the forend iron where it rides on the receiver. I can trip the ejector by putting a small screwdriver inside the iron and tripping the sear. Anyone know where I can get a replacement sear? If not, I'm sure I can make one, but need to verify some assumptions since I don't have a good one to examine. It looks like the end of the sear rides in the vertical slot in the end of the receiver and then trips when it hits the bottom of the slot as the gun is almost all the way opened. I would also assume that the sear should protrude into the slot as far as possible without bottoming out in the slot. I dont know if the protrusion is round or square (maybe I'll be able to tell once it is removed). Do I have it right? Any tricks to disassembly or reassembly? Thanks for any help. Bill

I last bought single barrel parts from Ithaca parts department. They probably still have them unless they sold them. I see no reason why the new owners wouldn't tell you who they sold them to. Don't make parts when you can buy them. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Are you talking about the new Ithaca folks in Sandusky Ohio?

I called them. Nice to talk to, but no single parts. They told me they were probably going to reintroduce the Knick trap gun, but it was several years out. They referred me to several possible sources, all of which I had already tried. So, it looks like I'll be making one. SOMEONE out there must have an Ithaca Knick and be able to verify the assumptions in my first post. I'd sure appreciate some help. Bill

You may want to talk to one of the gunsmiths that have been recommended by Walter Snyder, a couple of which worked for Ithaca for many years. One he suggested to me for my Knick is: Gunter Pfrommer, 540-484-5555 and the other is Les at: repair@diamondgunsmithing.com. I bet that one or both of these gentlemen will be able to help you, they may even have the part you seek.
My Knick has an ejector problem also, the ejector kicks every time, whether the trigger was pulled or not. Other than that, the damned thing is a laser on the trap range. Hit 28 out of 30 the first time I took it out and when it hit them it smoked 'em! The two misses I can 100% attribute to brain fade on the part of the operator.

Bill, In addition to Gunter, try Jim Guild, 973-875-9266. Jim has been repairing Knicks for a long time. Les at Diamond Gunsmithing may also have some parts. Please let me know if you are not successful as I have one other trick up my sleeve

Several years ago, I bought a 4E Knick SBT and found the ejector did not work. The post by Mr. Snyder is right on. I got the parts I needed from Mr. Jim Guild. He really preferred that I send him the gun to repair, but did sell me the parts. They took some fitting, but they worked and still do. I notice the telephone number I have for Mr. Guild is different from the one given, but as stated, the one I have is several years old.

Hello Bill, Since your PMs ane not working I will post the following. I was talking with Gunter today on another matter and mentioned your needs. He thinks he may have what you need. All Knick parts have to be fitted, remember. I was a wiz9to my standards) today with my 5E Knick at the Fort Bragg Clay Target center. 23/25 for each of 2 rounds of wobble trap. Good for me and me 1942 Knick! Best with yours, Walt

Hello Bill, I was shooting my 5E today and upon cleaning noted that the ejector trip does protrude beyond the 'knuckle' of the forend a bit. SO-- yours is either worn or more likely broken. The magic wand did me proud today! I hope you will enjoy your KNICK as well. Best, Walt

Walt - Thank you for the info. I'll see if I can purchase the part and fit it myself. If it looks like I'm going to get in over my head, I'll send the gun and the part back to him to be fitted. I would rather have an experienced person fit it than do it myself, but shipping nice guns makes me very nervous given my bad experience and horror stories I seem to hear quite often. Thanks again for the info. Bill
