Drew- I find that a loader is too much trouble when passing the second gun in a woodcock cover when I can barely swing the first gun anyway ;-)
wonder if the Archduke should have taken it as an omen and stayed in the house for a year or two
as for the cocking both hammers - i guess I should consider myself luck to have a mitt that can reach both spurs comfortably
my first couple year hunting as a kid were with a single barrel exposed hammer 20 gauge. My father had drilled safety into me since I had been going along unarmed at the age of eight, but he still watched the gun's readiness. BUT - that gun had a hammer spring that must have been meant for leaf on a 2 ton truck, shooting it at all was a miracle for a kid.
