Back again. Sorry to be so herky-jerky, we're going through a lay-off at work (mine) and I am a bit preoccupied.
The barrel is 26-7/8" plus a bit, from muzzle to breech. I expect it measures about the same going the other way as well.
The sight has "WS" stamped on the underside and "PAT.JAN.29.78.MAY.5.84" in very tiny letters around the stem. Not 100% sure about the characters after 'MAY'.
There is one after-market, tapped hole in the tang and one wood screw into the wrist holding it in place.
Still haven't got that particular "round tuit" to do the chamber cast or slug the bore yet but I don't expect too many surprises.
