I was at a gun show in Mississippi and of course always looking for the bargain of the century..ok I'm cheap.. but any way there was a Dealer that had a German or Austrian SXS double rifle he said was a 45/70 Hammers and under lever no case or anything else. The rest of his table was AR 15's and simi auto's...I 'm pick it up and I'm thinking I might the only guy in the state that might buy this I can't wait to tell them on Double gun about this find.But.....no price...ugg..hummm..sir can you tell me how much you want for the double rifle...... quote "Sir all I can tell you is that I have turned down $14,000" He said it belonged to a famous Elephant hunter that has stuff in a museum .I could be wrong but he boxed himself in with a lie. He could have easily told me sir let me get your name and I'll get back with you....but what is he going to say later... the guy died that offered him the $14,000.It's possible I'm wrong... but I don't think so. I thought it was odd to have a 45.70 as a German caliber but I think I later found it was possible.
