Barge is contact cement. The construction contact cement that we can buy around here now is so environmentally friendly that it does not work.

Hmmm...I just ordered a bottle of Weldwood on Amazon...Highly flammable, harmful or fatal if swallowed. No hazmat fee or other restrictions. Don't know why anyone couldn't get it.
Bobby, that trapezoid shape has always been my favorite, I have a bunch of different sizes. The knife edge lets me sand into those sharp junctions like ball grips and beaded cheek pieces on rifles.

Got my last tube at Ace hardware. I used it to glue some leather reinforcements on a leg of mutton case, but the glued surfaces came loose and sure weren't permanent.

You're most welcome. I've used those and various diameters of wooden dowels stuffed in rubber tubing for a lifetime. I really don't know where I got the idea for the trapezoid. I guess it never occurred to me it wasn't commonplace.

Definitely Barge in the yellow and red can. The best endorsement of it's effectiveness is you can't get it in California!

I used to use Pliobond. It's available in smallish tubes so you don't have to buy a whole lot.

Definitely Barge in the yellow and red can. The best endorsement of it's effectiveness is you can't get it in California! You can still get it at Film Tools in Burbank. The saddle makers can't seem to get it any more, but the movie guys are special, so they can still use it. They will sell it to you over the counter.
