Wrong; The steel the bbls are made from has little to do with whether they are plated or not. Some of the "Really" better guns may be made to order to give a certain pattern with a given load, which requires firng, checking pattern then adjusting choke, firing again etc. Such guns are unlikely to be plated as the choke adjustment would remove it in the choke area. Beyond that it's more the policy of the maker & intended use of the gun. Makers of "Better" guns may also anticipate their guns will receive better care & plating not be as needful in preventing corrosion.
