I recently purchased an Ithaca 4E single trap gun made in the early 30's. It has two barrels numbered to the gun, one modified and the other full choke. The seller informed me it would be shipped in a hard case. When I received it, I was surprised to see that the case was a black leather covered trunk case with cast brass hardware and a lock with a key. The interior of the case has a strip of leather with the Ithaca name gold embossed on it stitched to the divider that separates the top "lid" and bottom of the case. The case is approx 5" high, 7" wide and 35" long. The "lid" is padded and lined with a brown flannel type of material and houses the buttstock/receiver, while the bottom has fitted compartments for each of the barrels and the forearm. Did Ithaca make cases such as this for their guns? Although the case is intact, it needs a few small repairs and relining. Does anyone know someone who does this type of work? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
