Since deformation is correlated with peak pressure, how exactly can a crusher measure total area under the pressure curve?

I'm looking at an old Dupont handloader's guide.

Federal Game load hull
Federal 209
R12L
1 oz.
1295 fps

700X = 8600 LUP
PB = 6600 LUP

Clearly the work done is the same thus the area under the pressure curve should be the same.

I call BS on a crusher measuring the area under the pressure curve.
