Gunsaholic I appreciate your advice. On a few items I can save but lo and behold I was stripping down the gun this evening and to my surprise someone has removed the firing pins everything else in place including the springs removed the side plates and the part that comes up to cover the crystal cocking indicator on one side is broken and the piece missing. It is rapidly becoming a very nice mantle piece. But I remain very attracted to the piece because of the design, over lever cocking mechanism, the fit to metal is superb and the engraving is really outstanding for a gun of this quality and era. Dang the sentimental value of these old guns can really creep up on you.

The missing pins are a bummer but surely not disastrous. Your gunsmith can surely turn these out although without a pattern it might be a bit hit and miss. The cocking indicator is not that important but I would wonder why it got bust in the first place. With a gun like yours I would go one step at a time, starting with the bore measurements. If that area is ok then the jointing, then the pins, and at that stage you should have a working gun. The cosmetics can then follow at your leisure.

I had the barrels measured and they have enough to take up to 5 thou if required. I think 300846 is right. Spend enough to get new pins and put back on face. Put a butt plate on it and shoot it and enjoy it. The rest is consmetic. I think the barrels can be enhanced rather than a total re-rust/etching.

I would like to get this gun back into operation. I need two fire pins and a striker on one side plus putting the gun back on face. Given it is a relatively inexpensive gun who might I send it to that won't make an expensive project out of it?
